One account claims the mill owner killed the stable boy in a fit of rage. Another states he denied the daughter the right to see the stable boy and he killed himself in the barn.

Regardless of which is the truth, some claim that to this day you can hear the boy crying for her in the barn.

ahh, no. Grew up a mile from here since the early 70's. Never heard any ghost stories. Better odds at the old Quarry (Bonner Park).

ReplyDeleteWell anonymous, just because you have not heard any stories doesn't mean that someone else has not. I am just now hearing ghost stories of the area where I grew up and I've been around for a while! I was telling one of my neighbors about some of the ghost tales here in suburban Philadelphia. Some he heard of, others he did not, and there are various versions of them out there on the web and some have even been published in books. Ask around your neighborhood, you may turn up something new. And I am curious about Bonner Park though. I have been there several times and I have not heard anything about that place. Please share!
ReplyDeleteI know of many ghost hauntings and such in Glen Mills since I have lived there all my life. Which "barn" are you talking about? The Grist Mill is NOT a barn - it was a MILL - there are other barns on the Newlin estate - which one are you talking about?
ReplyDeleteThe Grist Mill is just that - the MIll - I happen to live in the "Barn" (carriage house) in which you speak and yes, it's haunted
ReplyDeleteWhich 'barn' do you speak of? The only 'Barn' on the property was erected in 1986...I may have been 3, but I was there. I lived in the Grain Storage house from 1983 to 1998, then lived in the Trimble house for the following 4 years. If your initials are KM, then I have misspoken, and I clearly didn't know that your house is known as the 'carriage house.' If not, I am going to have to call shenanigans on you, sir or madame. Please prove me wrong.
